This is a collection of models I made at Blipd for the Shopkins Shop n’ Seek game, which is a mobile AR scavenger hunt game.
We had some major poly/texture budget constraints for this project. The general rule for assets is none could go over 1k tris, the lower the better, and all maps had to be 512 or lower, lower preferred. Normal maps were also discouraged unless necessary. Some of the models, such as the vehicles, were quite puzzling to make with such a tight budget. It was frustrating having such a small budget but very rewarding after managing to pull it off on complex models.
I learned a lot about budgeting polygons/texture space working on this project.
Fun Fact: I applied to the company to work on this game because at the time my daughter was into Shopkins. It was a great experience and I had a blast sharing with my daughter what I was working on each day. It was fun when she recognized the characters, and even more, fun playtesting the game together!
