Hello, my name is Andre Wahl and I am a 3D Artist and Educator. I am a generalist by necessity, as I have been teaching the entire 3D pipeline since 2014, but my greatest areas of focus and passion are 3D modeling, texturing, and lighting. Teaching and Art are lifelong passions of mine and I strive to grow as both an artist and a teacher every day.
Art has been part of my life from my earliest memories to my contemporary day-to-day activities. From a young age, the moment I was given a tool to make a mark, I would draw. There we no school papers I turned in that didn’t have some wild creature of the imagination scribbled on them in one corner or another! I carried art with me through my entire life, and as an adult, it has become my life’s calling.
My transition from 2D to 3D began as soon as I saw 3D graphics on the Nintendo 64. I began trying to draw in 3D. I wanted my drawings to come to life like Mario, but alas, I did not have the technology at the time to do so. I was finally given the opportunity to try my hand at 3D my Junior year in Highschool, and I have been learning 3D ever since! I strive to advance my knowledge in the field whenever possible to improve my artistic abilities and breathe greater life into my creation.
Teaching was my original career path before I knew I could be a 3D artist by trade. It just so happened along the way my two passions collided, which has resulted in the most rewarding experience of my life. Teaching has allowed me to see art from a different perspective than just that of a tool used by particular industries. Art enriches life and sets artist on a path like no other. Few fields demand the same level of commitment and sacrifice, and I am honored to help guide artists on their journey.
