Zebra mobile AR Model
I developed this asset for the Nashville Zoo App’s Virtual Habitat. The Virtual Habitat is an augmented reality experience for mobile devices and tablets. I was responsible for the modeling, texturing, and rigging of the asset. I utilized Maya and Zbrush for the modeling, Zbrush, Xnormal, and Photoshop for the textures, and rigged the asset in Maya.
While doing this project I discovered a neat misconception about Zebras. Most people, myself included, believe Zebra’s to be stronger than horses because they are wild, but it turns out horses are much more muscular than Zebras. Humans have engineered horses to be racecars, tractors, war machines, and more. The muscle mass off most horse breeds make Zebras look like wimps! I used a lot of horse anatomy of references initially, then had to tone back the muscles quite a bit to make it look like a Zebra.
