This is an original character concept I came up with then I was in College. It’s a race of anthropomorphic salamanders. This little guy has gone few a lot of iterations and this is where he is at today. For this project I modeled the character using Maya and Zbrush, textured it using Zbrush, Mudbox, and Photoshop. I also quickly sculpted the rocks in the environment to use for rendering purposes. To create the water I utilized a fractal noise node in Hypershade mapped to displacement and bump and used an aiStandardSurface to make the watery reflections. The plants are Maya paint effects I manipulated to work with Arnold.
