Ashtoreth

The concept behind this piece was to create a visual depiction of the Goddess Ashtoreth, a figure described as a Canaanite goddess in the Old testament. For the final presentation I wanted to produce a finished image rather than just present a 3D model, so I needed to develop an environment to put the subject in. The environment I created was inspired by the theme that lead to me creating this depiction, which was “discovering what has been forgotten”. The hole in the roof is symbolic of discovery, and the old ruins represents what has been forgotten. The gold statue represents something outside of time entirely, which is the essence of what a God or Goddess is.

Original concept I developed. The headdress was changed to avoid confusion with other well known God depictions of Hermes or Mercury.
